Gerard van den Berg
Growing up as the son of a furniture manufacturer, he did not initially choose the obvious path. He developed his artistic talents in training to become a painter. But blood is thicker than water and after studying furniture manufacturing at the Rotterdam Technical High School, he joined his father's company as a designer. According to Van den Berg, the art of design is: 'To keep thinking very purely'. He tries to hold on to the single, pure form, from the first sketch to final production.
