History

Satelliet hospitality furniture has been a leader in creating 'places to remember' for over half a century. Locations where memories are made because hospitality and experience merge in a distinctive and memorable interior. Our focus is mainly on the future, which is possible because a solid foundation has been laid in the past. Via this timeline, on which defining moments are highlighted, we take you through the history of our organisation.

1971

Jan van der Wouw and Luck Jansen set up a company together and traded - initially from a residential house - in café furniture. In this age of change, space and satellites symbolise renewal and progress. Themes that qualify the shared vision and thus a logical name for the company: Satelliet Meubelen.

1986

'Collection European' appears, the first, in-house Satelliet catalogue full of hospitality furniture. With this product register, the company will be well prepared for its business relations and clients. Initially, this catalogue will be published once every two years. Until 2013, it was decided to publish a collection overview every year.

1987

This year, Satelliet Meubelen will move from Breda's Spinveld to the striking 1912 steam carpentry factory on Haagweg in Princenhage district. The ingenious wooden supporting structure - designed by Breda architect J. van Groenendael - is still a visible, characteristic element in the showroom.

1989

Today, the Satelliet Open Days are a well-attended happening where industry, collection and creativity meet in a thematic setting. During the Open Days, the new collection is launched in a playful way. This esteemed tradition originated in the tail end of the high-profile eighties.

1995

This period embodies growth and expansion. Broadening horizons and pushing boundaries. After Breda, which will serve as its headquarters, Satelliet opens a second and third establishment in the Horecawerf in industrial Amsterdam North and in the green pearl on the Overijsselse Vecht: Dalfsen, respectively.

2000

In Breda, the warehouse on Haagweg is outgrowing its capacity. The logistics activities therefore move to a modern designed Logistics Centre in Rijen. This location - with a warehouse area of over 10,000 square metres - houses all departments related to delivery, storage, assembly and handling of the goods flow.

2007

Times are changing and the business continues to evolve. In this year, the time has come to address the market with new energy and momentum. Satelliet's ambitions are described and illustrated in a clear brand identity. This also includes a brand new logo design: with the typical globe in a fresh new look.

2011

Satelliet believes in the power of cooperation and, as a founding partner, is opening the Inspirium knowledge and inspiration platform adjacent to the Breda showroom. This unique partner collective in hospitality and interior design brings together various disciplines such as furniture, automation, lighting and kitchen experience.

2014

Because we get to contribute to so many beautiful interior design projects and meet inspiring creators and entrepreneurs, we have launched our own magazine on hospitality and interior design. Through PROEF!Hospitality, we can pool and share all our experiences and inspiration. The first edition will roll off the press in October 2014.

2018

As a tenant from the first moment at the Horecawerf in Amsterdam, Satelliet now takes over from initiator Wim Klaasen. At this location, inspiration, knowledge and expertise are pooled, especially for the hospitality and hospitality sector. The Haringparty, a traditional event in June, is a highlight of the year.

2019

Experience has shown that our customer's demand is better fulfilled by presenting a total experience. This is why we are transforming Horecawerf into: Inspirium Amsterdam. This second branch of collaborating specialists also offers total solutions for maximum hospitality experiences under the motto 'sharing success and happiness'.

2020

From the intrinsic desire to create a unique and contemporary range of hospitality furniture, a leading collection with its own story and recognisable signature has been developed in collaboration with (inter)national designers. The name of this edgy label: Satelliet Originals. Each Originals item embodies hospitality, quality, strength and individuality.

2021

Five decades of hospitality are festively celebrated with a contemporary name: Satelliet hospitality furniture and matching logo. The specially designed glossy to mark our 50th anniversary is full of anecdotes and great stories. The special edition golden rocking chair is released in a limited edition of 1971 - referring to the year of foundation.

2022

Satelliet launches its Mission hospitality; aiming to be the most sustainable supplier of hospitality furniture in Europe by 2030. This ambition will be rewarded with the Groene Pluim (Green Plume): recognition for companies that are working from intrinsic motivation to strive for a better, sustainable world.

2023

Pushing boundaries is embedded in our DNA. A new era is dawning for the company when Satelliet enters into partnership with Amsterdam-based investment company VE Partners. In the coming years, we will work together to realise growth and sustainability ambitions and commit to international expansion.

2024

Euroseat - Europe's largest outlet of used catering furniture - becomes part of the Satelliet Group. The integration closes the circle and allows the principle of re-duce, re-use and re-cycling to be shaped further. An important step in realising the sustainability ambitions for 2030.

2024

After years of operating through a dealer in Norway, Satelliet Norge has been fully integrated into the Satelliet Group. At the end of August, the brand new showroom opened in Oslo, from where Satelliet Norge will serve the Norwegian market independently and entirely on behalf of Satelliet hospitality furniture.
