Amamagna: on board the biggest river cruise ship in Europe
With a width of no less than 22 metres, the AmaMagna is double the width of standard European cruise ships and her luxuriousness and spaciousness redefines the river cruise experience. She has already been named the Queen of the Danube. But not for that reason only. Her large size means that she can never sail any another route than the Danube. The waterways to other rivers are simply not wide enough for a ship of this size. Fortunately, the cities along the Danube offer enough opportunities for wonderful scenic and cultural sailing routes.
The Kamphuisen Group in Wageningen is responsible for the design and construction of the AmaMagna. With Kamphuisen Projects, they have been specialists for many years in the supervision and construction of river cruise ships, from first sketches to furnishing. They've already delivered many ships commissioned by AmaWaterways.
Despite the large size of the ship, it carries just 20% more passengers than traditional river cruise ships. This is reflected in ample but also stylishly furnished rooms and suites with wood accents, elegant furniture and luxurious fabrics that remind you more of a 5-star hotel than a standard cabin on a cruise ship.
But it's not only the rooms and suites that suggest luxury. The ship also offers a wide range of entertainment, such as a cinema, boutique, wellness studio, juice bar, swimming pool, sun terrace and multiple (!) restaurants, bars and lounges. There's even a fitness space. Everything you need for a full cruise experience with the space and allure of an ocean cruise, but then with the intimacy of a river cruise. With his all years of expertise and experience in the world of river cruises, co-founder Rudi Schreiner hopes this step will make an appealing mix for a new generation of passengers that chooses for river cruises as well as ocean cruises, with the AmaMagna as cherry on the cake.
